The purpose of these courses is to provide you with the experience of conceiving, designing and implementing a hardware or hardware-related software project, and of presenting your results in both oral and written form. The project may consist of either design and construction of hardware or the production of software that has basic engineering significance.

A clean, not-marked-up copy of the Final Written Prospectus/Initial Design document is to be included as an Appendix to the ECE 493 Final Report.
Vehicle Collision Detection System. Analyze potential solutions to collision detection. Design and fabricate a prototype system that could be used for private automobiles.
Fiber Distributed Data Interface (FDDI). Perform a simulation of a data communications network based on the FDDI standard. Evaluate FDDI protocols appropriate to data communications.
RF Transmitter/Receiver Pair. Design and fabricate a low power, portable, low cost "locator" system based on using a RF receiver with directional antenna and an RF transmitter with an omnidirectional antenna.
Microprocessor Based Temperature Controller. Design a programmable microprocessor based system to monitor many temperature sensors and provide control signals to multiple heater elements to maintain a programmable temperature profile over a large area.
We know that every projects has some kind of customer whether it is a faculty member, a department here at school or a representative from industry. There are no project sources lisited in this page at the moment. In the future there will be a list of project sources to choose from.
Interdisciplinary projects have never been done before but the hardware/software combination allows for interdisciplinary projects.
There is also the possibilty of a semi-interdiscaplanary project such as a student going outside the ECE field. For example , a project that involves a mechanical device being driven by an electronic system.
