The Objective of Doing a Senior Design Project in Computer Science:

How do Senior Design Exhibitions fit into the Computer Science Curriculum ?
Senior Design students learn to coordinate team activities to create a product that satisfies a customer.
This program offers a design exhibition course as the capstone in the computer science curriculum. Seniors form teams to work on a project selected by a company in out Collaborative Partners Program. This program not only benefits students, but also offers a unique opportunity for industries to use state of the art computing technologies to solve company specific problems. Where Projects Come From:

We know that every project has some kind of customer, whether it's a faculty member, a department here at school or a representative from industry. So, now you might ask: "where do these projects come from?".

• Industry representatives who have agreed to work with a faculty member can register a project and advertise it through this module. This "customer" may even be the university , a governement organization, or a not-for profit organization.
• As a student, you also have the option of creating a project. Every project must have a customer and a faculty sponsor. If you have an idea that would make a good senior design project, talk to a faculty sponsor. You may be surprised by their creativity and inginuity for finding ways to hook you up with a customer and get you started.

How to find Interdiscaplinary Projects:

Interdiscaplinary Projects for CS Students are available. This means that you may work on a project with students from the ECE, SE or USE departments. Click "SITE" on the map below (NOT YET INCLUDED) or return to the subway map and click the "SITE" node from there. You'll find lists of available projects in the SITE school with a list of appropriate majors next to them.

Exhibition:

Every senior design student in CS completes the course with an exhibition of the project to their peers. This often takes place at the end of the semester in the presence of the faculty, customers and other students. This exhibition is a proffessional explaination of the work completed and a discussion of "lesson's learned". Students dress proffessionaly and use demonstrations to convey their messege. Your faculty advisor and customer will help you to prepare for this presentation when you near completion of your project.
