Miscellaneous Standards
- Each module will contain a readme.html page at highest directory level which explains the structure and conventions of that module and its current status in development. It is very important to keep this file up to date.
- All the module pages will use the same background. Choose a color or a graphic.
then specify it on each page this way:
<body BACKGROUND="graphic name"> or
<body BGCOLOR=#colornumber>
- Your exercise station will look better in the default gray color, so
do not change the background color in those pages.
- PLEASE use
chmod 775
to give the group access to your files. This
is especially important if you create a new directory or an
image which you will share.
- If you change the font size on your page using <fontsize> or
by using the headline feature <H1> please change the
size back at the end of your page by using </fontsize>
of </H1>. Failure to do this causes the text beneath
the buttons for the page to print askew.
- On your exercise page:
- In the message for incorrect answers, include a link
to the page that explains that concept.
- The list of problems should be a number, a period, a space
then a question beginning with a capital letter.
For instance,
9. What is 2 + 4?
- When you compose your list of multiple choice answers,
make sure the answer is not immediately obvious.
- We should all be using the default font size for regular text in our
stations. Of course, you may use a larger size for emphasis. Please do
change the font size for formulas and definitions, etc, but make the primary
text the default size. (Note: the user can pick a different font size in the
options of the Netscape window. We want the user to see a consistent size, so
all our pages should be alike.
- Make sure your graphics will fit into the PC window. It is frustrating to
have a graphic that you have to scroll to see.
- When you have written all the text for your station, put the terms you have
used (especially the ones you have defined) into the index. The index for the
yellow and blue lines is /modules/dau/math_idx.html
and the red and purple lines is /modules/dau/stat_idx.html
Put in any term you think might be looked for--redundancy is a good feature in
an index.
